Why did you call it Moxi?

People ask me this all the time.

The word moxie means courage, determination, confidence, spirit, and the willingness to do things differently. If you're familiar with the Yiddish word chutzpah, it's got a little of that, too.

When I opened Moxi in 2006, I knew I wanted to build a salon that challenged the traditional way of doing things. Over the years, that has meant making difficult decisions, questioning long-standing industry norms, and staying true to my values—even when it wasn't always the easiest path.

Today, Moxi stands for thoughtful choices, healthier beauty, kindness, integrity, and creating a salon experience that feels as good as it looks.
